How Remembite Works: Chat, Check, Keep

By Remembite team · Published · Updated

Remembite is a food log for your AI assistant. Your AI works out the calories and macros. Remembite checks the numbers, stores every meal, charts your trends and remembers the foods you name. You can create a free account, connect Claude or ChatGPT (beta, via developer mode) and keep your own record today. A demo dashboard on sample data shows the layout first.

What happens when you tell your AI what you ate?

Take this sentence: 2 eggs and 150g cooked rice. You say it to your AI as you would say it to a friend. No form fields per food.

Your AI estimates the amount, calories, protein, carbs and fat for each food and sends the meal to Remembite. Here is the kind of estimate it might send, with the arithmetic you can check against the eggs and white rice pages:

You saidAmountReference value per 100 gCalories (amount x reference)
2 eggs100 g155 kcal (boiled egg)155 kcal
150g cooked rice150 g130 kcal (cooked white rice)195 kcal

The total is 350 kcal. The table shows the sums so you can follow them. Remembite stores the numbers your AI sent, after the two checks below.

AI estimates, Remembite checks, then saves or sends back

What does Remembite check before it saves a meal?

Before it saves a meal, Remembite compares each food it can confidently match to a USDA-based reference, and checks the protein, carbs and fat against the calories. If a number looks far off, Remembite does not save it. It sends a question back to your AI, which asks you to confirm or fix it.

Say your AI sends 600 kcal for 100 g of boiled egg. The eggs page lists 155 kcal per 100 g, so 600 is almost four times the reference. Remembite sends back a question: is the amount or the food different from what was assumed? Your AI asks you, you answer "two eggs is about 155", and that is what gets saved.

The second check needs no reference. Protein and carbs have 4 calories per gram and fat has 9, so a food cannot hold much more energy in its macros than in its calories. When the macros add up to far more than the calories your AI sent, Remembite sends back a question about which numbers are right.

Two limits. A food Remembite cannot match is not compared with a reference, though the macro check still applies. And the checks catch numbers that look wrong. A portion that is wrong but plausible can pass, so look at the entries that matter to you.

What does Remembite keep?

Each saved meal records the foods, the grams and the numbers your AI sent, marked with the assistant that logged it. The sample dashboard shows how that reads on sample data:

  • Today: meals and day totals.
  • History: calorie and protein trends.
  • My foods: saved shortcuts and meals.

Nothing in the demo is a real person's log. It needs no account.

What does memory add?

You say it once and Remembite keeps it:

  • Save what a phrase means to you: "my oats" can map to a food with your usual weight and cooked or raw state.
  • Save a meal as a named template and repeat it later, with optional edits. A repeated meal copies the numbers stored with the original and scales them when you change the grams, so the second breakfast matches the first.
  • List everything saved and delete any entry. Meals you already logged are not touched when you delete a phrase.

Who sets the calories?

Your AI does. It reads what you ate, estimates the portions and sends the numbers. Remembite does not replace that estimate with its own. Portion size is the biggest source of error in any calorie count, and the checks do not remove it. For where the error comes from, see how big the error is in calorie counts. For why cooked and raw weights differ so much, see the raw vs cooked guide.

For a comparison with asking a chat for the number directly, see Ask AI for Calories, Look Them Up, or Keep a Record?. To add up a meal with several foods by hand or with your AI, see calories in a mixed meal.
